CLASSES AND COURSES
Learn from a wide curriculum of styles and weapons meant to benefit all levels of fitness and ability
Iron and Silk Kung Fu is suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels. We will help you change and improve consistently. If you are an absolute beginner, or an experienced Martial Artist, there will be new material for you to learn and enjoy. Our classes combine hands-on experience with knowledge-based teaching. We bring into each class Grandmaster Pan's advice and wisdom, and even share some of his personal notes with students regularly - take a look at our offerings and contact Iron and Silk Kung Fu to learn more.
We will start students with Kung Fu stances, basic punches and kicks, the beginnings of Chin Na (joint locks) and partner work to get used to attack and defence
Once students have achieved proficiency in basic movements and coordination, they will move on to more strenuous and complex skills training, and then fist forms and weapons. Technique drills will be introduced and empty hand forms such as Long Fist and weapons forms such as Staff and Broadsword will be introduced.
After learning initial Fist and Weapons Forms, students will move on to weapons applications and then begin training in more advanced weapons. Straight Sword, Double broadsword, Spear, Guan Dao, Double Daggers, NanDao, Nine-Section whip and two-person fighting forms can be taught at this stage.
ABOUT THE SCHOOL
Before Grandmaster Pan Qing Fu passed away in 2017, he asked his disciple, David Ballantyne to open a school and begin teaching. David's goal is to impart as much of Grandmaster Pan's immense knowledge as possible on to new generations to keep his art alive.
Along with sharing this knowledge, our goal is to enrich people's lives through the Chinese Martial Arts. We want to help you achieve fitness, skill and peace in your life through Iron and Silk Kung Fu.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic we began teaching outside and have continued to do so because our students enjoy it. This was the way David trained for many years with Grandmaster Pan in Summer or Winter. We are however looking for a permanent indoor space. So, if you have and information on a space we can lease or share, please contact us to let us know.

ABOUT GRANDMASTER PAN AND HIS DISCIPLE
Grandmaster Pan lead an amazing and colourful life full of hardship, achievement and adventure. Since he began teaching, he taught thousands of studenta in China and around the world.
However, he only took on a handful of disciples in both China and abroad in his lifetime. He was very selective as to who he would accept to receive his "closed door" teachings. David Ballantyne was his most senior, and longest serving disciple at the time of his death.
